David Barrett Wilson

David Barrett Wilson fell in love with public radio while studying physics and mathematics at Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship. After returning to the US in 1993, he found the BBC on Boulder's community radio station, KGNU. What he heard on KGNU inspired him to begin volunteering there in 1994. He slowly learned the art of radio journalism working on KGNU's science show, How on Earth. David started selling radio stories nationally in 1996, focusing primarily on nuclear issues. In 1999, he received a Golden Reel from the National Federation of Community Broadcasters for his four part documentary, Return to the Nuclear Crossroads, a history of protest at the Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant. David Barrett Wilson produces features for many regional and national programs on public radio. He finds much of his inspiration training all new on-air volunteers at KGNU. He also substitutes as KGNU news director. In 2001, he will oversee the whole KGNU news and public affairs department along with working on the DNA Files, producing their astrobiology program.
